      Dr. Roger Hussey

Roger Hussey holds an M.Sc. in Industrial Relations and a Ph.D. in Financial Communications from Bath University (UK).  He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and, after qualifying, worked in industry in various accounting positions for several years.  In 1975 he moved to St Edmund Hall, Oxford University as Director of Employee Communications Research and published several papers and books on the subject.  He joined the University of England in 1982 as an accounting professor and in 1997 was appointed as the Deloitte and Touche professor in Financial Communications. 

Roger came to Canada in 2000 as the Dean of the Odette School of Business, Windsor and served five years in that capacity.  He is now Professor of International Accounting and Academic Director of the School’s Master of management program.  He is also a Visiting Professor at Niagara University (US) and Bristol Business School (UK).

Whilst in the UK Roger served for many years on the Institute of Chartered Accountant’s Financial Reporting Committee.  He is now a member of the Advisory Committee to the Canadian Accounting Standards Board on the implementation of International Accounting in Canada.

Roger has written many books and articles on accounting and management.  His latest books have been International Financial Reporting Standards: Desk Reference, published by John Wiley (US) in 2005 and Business Accounting, published by Palgrave Macmillan (UK) in 2007.  He is currently working on a textbook on international accounting for World Scientific Publishers.

 

 

    Luzita Kennedy

Luzita Kennedy, Senior Manager, National Advisory Group, is a South African Chartered Accountant who is an expert in the interpretation and application of IFRS. She uses her expertise to assist Canadian clients, across all industries, understand the technical and practical application of IFRS. Luzita has worked extensively with clients to successfully implement IFRS. She also has extensive experience in developing and delivering IFRS training to a wide audience, is a presenter at external conferences across Canada, and has contributed to the development of a number of IFRS publications for the Canadian marketplace.

 

 

 

       

 

     Gary Porter

Gary A. Porter, CA, FCGA, Licensed Public Accountant in Ontario, co-founder of Porter Hetu International in 1988, Canada’s 18th largest accounting group. Member of the Board of Ontario Teachers’ Pension Fund 1998-2005 and Chair of the Investment Committee with oversight of CAD $100 billion investment portfolio and member of the Audit & Actuarial Committee.

Gary has lectured CGA’s Advanced Finance course (1982-88); presented seminars for the Continuing Professional Development program of CGA Ontario on a wide variety of accounting, auditing and ethics topics; authored Attribute and Dollar Unit Sampling published by CGA Canada, used in several universities in Canada and in CGA Canada’s advanced auditing course; acted as Practitioner Reviewer for the revision of AU2 for CGA Canada (2004-05); acted both as a Reviewer and Presenter of the Audit section of the Orientation to Public Practice Course of CGA Canada (2003-08); Author and presenter of a professional development course for ICAO titled “Audit of Simple Entities” (2007)

Mr. Porter is currently involved in the preparation of a Quality Control Manual for IFAC to be used by SMP practitioners in the assurance field.

 

      

       Stephen Spector

Stephen Spector is a Lecturer currently teaching Financial and Managerial Accounting at Simon Fraser University. From 1982 to 2002, he was an employee of CGA-Canada where he finished his tenure as Manager of Standards and Research, Professional Affairs. Stephen has held a number of volunteer positions with the Certified General Accountants Association of British Columbia; he currently sits on CGA-BC’s board of governors where he is CGA-BC’s First Vice-President.

Stephen served on the International Accounting Standards Committee’s Canadian Advisory Group from 1983 to 2000, and he was also one of Canada’s technical advisors to the IFAC Ethics Committee from 1999 to 2003. He is a member of the Canadian Academic Accounting Association, where he served as an executive member from 1992 to 1997.

Stephen became a CGA in 1985 after obtaining his Master of Arts in Economics from SFU in 1982. In 1997, CGA-BC presented him with the Harold Clarke Award of Merit for recognition of his service to the By-Laws Committee for 1990-1996. In 1999, Stephen received the Fellow Certified General Accountant  (FCGA) award for distinguished service to the Canadian accounting profession. He has been on SFU’s Faculty of Business Administration’s Teaching Honour Roll for May 2004 to April 2005 and May 2006 to April 2007.
